History
The origins of the Nature Conservation Society (NCS), Coimbatore, can be traced back to 1985 when it was established as the Coimbatore District Forest Project and Environment Society. The primary aim of the organization at the time was to raise awareness about wildlife and ensure its protection. Over the years, as its activities expanded and its objectives became more defined, the organization was renamed as the Nature Conservation Society (NCS), Coimbatore. This marked a significant milestone in its journey, reflecting its dedication to focused conservation efforts. NCS has since forged a strong and enduring partnership with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, working collaboratively to protect wildlife, promote environmental awareness, and support sustainable development in the region. This rich history of commitment and collaboration highlights the organization’s pivotal role in fostering a culture of conservation.
